A downloadable game

! IN EARLY DEVELOPMENT !

Rope Session is a cozy educational game about Japanese bondage. It's a mix of a walking simulator with elements of narrative, point-and-click, and hypercasual gameplay. The game aims to provide players with a deeper context about the Japanese art of Shibari, its community, and especially the importance of consent that accompanies these activities. It highlights its ethical and safety principles, which are mostly absent in games or other forms of (especially mainstream) media. Due to this absence and lack of context, society perceives this community very distortedly and stereotypically, and its members often face prejudices.

The game presents Shibari as an art form and a consensual act, avoiding gender stereotypes and any sexualization of characters that would present them merely as sexual objects intended for personal gratification. On the contrary, the characters are portrayed as two equal beings, without any objectification, with their own boundaries, personality, and motivations.

As players, we take on the role of the rigger, and with it, responsibility for her own decisions, as well as their consequences. The character of the model is depicted as an equal entity, reacting to her own discomfort.

The game also portrays human diversity, the queer community, and gender identity with the same respect and sensitivity.

It's a very neat game concept with a lot of potential. The style and gameplay reminds me a bit of any of the simulator games, like PC building Simulator, but instead of building PCs, you're tying people up.

My review for this is that, with the current build, it's very clunky. Like, I tried to exit to the menu, it will not exit, it gets stuck on the loading screen. Aside from that, while I love the gimmick of drawing knots to show the tying up process, I think 15 is a bit too much to draw, I think the sweet spot would be around 7 to 8 ties. If you want to make it less, make the knots more intricate.

If there's anything that needs to be added, it would be a mode where you can test out what materials/ties you can do on a blank slate. As well as, the ability to see the model of the character being tied on all sides.

In terms of items used for tying, and how someone is tied up(positions of being tied up) I think that'll be a later addition. Which is up to the creator of the game themselves.

Overall, I think the game has potential and would be a good time waster.

P.S, I do love how you emphasize the safety of the person being tied up.

Got to play this at AMAZE2025; A very promising game serving as a good portrayal of proper consensual bondage

Hey, what do i need to do for the session to start? I'm just standing in the room, and i can interact with stuff, but it doesn't seem to progress

doesn’t start at all under wine

003c:fixme:service:scmdatabase_autostart_services Auto-start service L"CTIIO" failed to start: 1053
wine: failed to open "./Rope_Session.exe": c0000135

Following. Hoping you'll add some resolution settings as I can't see everything on the screen. Hope the build goes well.

hello! i was super excited to try your game as i love cozy bondage games like these, but i can't seem to actually make it through the session. i've tried everything, clicking on the rope, holding down the mouse, etc. and it still floats inanimately like this. i've tried redownloading just in case something corrupted, but i had the same issues =( cute game and concept, i really dig it, do you have any ideas on what i could do to fix this bug?

Hi! Thanks very much for your interest in playing my game. I really apologize for the complications with the game. Unfortunately, the game is still in the early development, so many features are not yet balanced. (Honestly, I needed to set up some version on Itch for a student conference). However, all game-breaking bugs should be fixed in the next few days and I would be happy it if you could try playing the game again later and enjoy it more!
